Early Symptoms of Bronchitis in Women and Men

Bronchitis can be described as a respiratory system infection, but to be more precise it is an inflammation of the mucous membrane which becomes swollen and thicker and starts to block the bronchial passages in the lungs. There are two types of bronchitis: acute and chronic. The acute bronchitis lasts less than six weeks, while the chronic can appear again and again for over two years. We can also mention the asthmatic bronchitis, which is present in people who have asthma

The symptoms of bronchitis can be similar to the symptoms of common cold, like runny nose, sore throat, chilliness, pain in the muscles and also fatigue. The cough of the infected person is dry at the beginning, which indicates the onset of acute bronchitis. If the bronchitis is caused by a virus, one of the signs can be white mucus that can be seen when coughing. If the colour of the mucus gets yellow or green, it tells that the disease is now complicated with bacterial infection.

In severe bronchitis a person can experience temperature of about 38 - 38.5 degrees Celsius, which can last for 3-5 days. The temperature usually lasts for so long despite the antibiotic treatment. After the fever is gone the coughing can still last for a couple of weeks and even longer.

The main symptoms of bronchitis are:

• Frequent dry cough with mucus.

• Short breath along with wheezing while breathing.

• Loss of energy and fatigue

• Fever

Great sensitivity of the air passages is one of the most common symptoms of bronchitis. Because of this these channels are narrowing and make the airflow to the lungs harder. This is usually triggered by different irritants like, inhaling dust and fumes, cold air, tobacco smoke, or even the smell of strong odors. If the airflow is severely blocked, most common problems that can occur are short breath and wheezing.
