Who Else Wants Portable Nebulizers?

A nebulizer or atomizer is a gadget used to medicate people through a liquid mist inhaled into the air passages. It is commonly used by asthmatic people as well as those with other respiratory diseases. It is different from an inhaler although both are effective at rescuing those who are experiencing an asthma attack. Doctors have been known to prescribe the use of inhalers over nebulizers because the former are cheaper and handier. Nebulizers, on the other hand, are often easier to use, at least, for very young children. They also carry a more positive visual effect because of the mist. Patients tend to feel that they are more effective than inhalers.

Standard nebulizers are cumbersome to transport around, but it is best to have them around all the time. To address this need, manufacturers have come up with portable versions. Unlike inhalers, portable versions still require an energy source and naturally, not all places carry electrical outlets. Fortunately, there are now battery-operated portable ones that are also handy although not necessarily as compact as inhalers.

Portable versions are perfect for the active, outdoorsy type of person as they obviously can be taken anywhere, even in places without electrical outlets. They allow for the same benefits as standard ones, but are more ideally used while staying somewhere else whether on business or vacation, during school or work, and while on the road. It is better to purchase ones that use rechargeable batteries to avoid the constant purchase and eventual discard of batteries. Disposable battery-powered ones arguably give more breathing treatments per set, but in the long run rechargeable batteries and an alternate set are a better investment.

These products may also come as either portable pneumatic or ultrasonic versions. Pneumatic ones create mist with gas or compressed air as the driving force. They usually have a concentric or a fixed cross-flow design. Ultrasonic ones, on the other hand, use sound or vibrations instead of gas as the energy source for turning liquid into mist. Ultrasonic versions are generally more expensive and difficult to use, but they have considerably lower detection limits. They allow more medication into the patient's lungs and are able to use up more of the liquid you put into it than other versions.

Just like with standard nebulizers, if portable ones bore steroids, the user must rinse his or her mouth after use to prevent the onset of a possibly yeast infection or thrush. Also be aware that nebulizing may cause vibration in the head during use.

Offering Circular For Real Estate - Investors Will Be Begging Your to Be Part of Your Company

Real estate investors are constantly on the lookout for innovative ways to raise the capital needed to get the job done. Lack of funds to the investor or rehabber is like an asthmatic without an inhaler, it's a near impossible existence. Access to cash is king for the investor and sadly this need is often like the scent of blood to the wolves as hard money lenders and greedy cash rich investors will lend to the investor for such a high interest rate, the real estate investor's profits evaporate before they can materialize.

It's a depressing reality to be faced with when months of hard work in bird dogging and going through the ups and downs of purchasing a property with decent profit margins results in actually owing money at the end of the transaction. With all this said, there is good news. Imagine the ability to raise massive amounts of capital without dealing with the red tape of banks or the greed of hard money lenders. This solution is so powerful that it can transform your real estate investing business overnight. This process allows you to raise unlimited amounts of capital fast and easy.

This process is a Real Estate Private Placement Memorandum which is a PPM engineered to cater to the needs of a real estate investment firm while simultaneously helping the investor raise capital within the guidelines set forth by the SEC. There are few other structures available that can help one raise capital in such a rapid and streamline manner. If you are involved in any level of rehabbing or investing look into getting set up with a real estate private placement memorandum to put your business on steroids.

The Hoover Vacuum Cleaner

An invention is sometimes created because of a need or by accident and believe it or not, the vacuum cleaner is a very good example.

Murray Spangler was a janitor cleaning the office using a dustpan and broom. Since the person was asthmatic, a little ingenuity was needed to prevent an attack from happening. This involved using a fan and broom handle that sucked up dirt as the individual cleaned.

When Mr. And Mrs. Hoover saw this, the couple decided to get a patent and the rest is history. The company has been making vacuum cleaners for close to a hundred years now and is still working hard to keep the business growing.

One of the upright models that Hoover is selling is the Bagged Tempo Widepath. This is designed to capture dust mites, dirt and common grass pollens with its powerful 12-ampere motor offering excellent cleaning performance.

The person may get one of these in the favorite store for $60 to $80 a unit, which is light and very easy to use. This can be stored in the closet and brought out again whenever the person chooses to do so.

The newest vacuum cleaner in the Hoover product line is known as the Windtunnel. It comes with a self-cleaning filter and a headlight so that the user can reach underneath the couch or cabinet.

The nice thing about this model is that the person doesn't need to buy replacement filter bags anymore. Once the unit is full, the contents that are in a cup are transferred into the trashcan and used again to capture more dirt.

Most vacuums can only reach a certain distance so the user has to pull it a little closer. With the Windtunnel, the person doesn't have to do this because it also comes with an 8-inch hose.

This comes with other accessories allowing it to clean almost any surface and has a one-year warranty on parts and services.

Hoover is available in almost any appliance store. The person can check out the Internet to know more about the other models it has especially if the entire product line is not being offered in a retail outlet.

If people want value for money, getting a vacuum cleaner from Hoover is the way to go. With the years of experience and number of patents under its belt, no one can go wrong in using this household appliance over other brands in the market.

Self Forgiveness is Essential for Healing

In the waiting room in my clinic, there is a poster that says "Self Forgiveness is Essential for Healing". A patient once asked me what it means and why I put it up there.

There are two main reasons why I put the poster up.

Firstly, I want my patients to realise that some physical illnesses are just manifestations of unresolved emotions and conflicts. Most times, these unresolved emotions have to do with anger and self blame. Both emotions are actually two sides of the same coin. The difference is that with anger, we direct the negative emotion outward at an external object or person while we direct it inwardly at ourselves in self blame. Both emotions are harmful to ourselves and may actually lead to physical illnesses. Some researchers believe that there is a strong link between such negative emotions with cancer.

In my own practice, I see some patients whose physical symptoms are actually caused by such negative emotions. One particularly noteworthy case was of a lady in her mid-thirties who suddenly developed asthma after a recent miscarriage. We initially treated her with anti-asthmatic medications with very little improvement. After about a month on medications, she came one afternoon looking rather sad. When I enquired further, she burst out crying. She disclosed that she had been feeling guilty about her miscarriage and blamed herself for the lost. To make matter worse, she could not discuss her feelings with her husband because he refused to talk about the matter.

I spend about an hour listening to her sorrows, allowing her to grieve for her lost. As she described her pain, she cried but I could see that it was good for her to discharge her pent up emotions.

After this visit, I did not see her for some time. Several months

later, she came by to see me again. This time it was to thank me for the last consultation. Apparently, ever since that consultation, her asthmatic symptoms disappeared and never came back.

This demonstrates the negative effects of self blame and guilt, and the power of self forgiving.

There is another reason why I put that poster up, and it is to remind myself sometimes to be kind to myself. As a doctor and a human being, I am sometimes faced with difficult decisions and choices. Sometimes, the decisions I made may turn out to be detrimental to my patients, resulting in unpleasant consequences. Fortunately, such incidents are rare and far in between, but they are a reality of life as a doctor. No doctor with a conscience can continue to provide quality healthcare to his patients if he allows such guilt to haunt him indefinitely. Self blame in such a case is not only harmful to the doctor himself but to the patients he has to treat everyday.

Thus, as a doctor, one has to learn to accept responsibility for his choices, both good and bad. If the decisions happened to be bad, he has to allow himself to grieve and move on as quickly as he can. He does not have the luxury of prolonged griefs.

A healthy way to handle such situations is to consciously accept

responsibility for his choices, even if he does not openly admit it to others, learn from it so as not to repeat the same mistake, and then to focus on the immediate task at hand. This can only be achieved with a lot of self forgiving.

As the saying goes, "To err is human, to forgive divine." While

forgiving is indeed divine, self forgiving can be the most difficult thing to do. It is often much easier to blame someone else instead of accepting responsibility for one's choices. It takes a person of courage and integrity to own his actions.

Child Allergies - Causes and Symptoms

Children of all ages are very prone to allergic reactions from a number of sources. Hay fever, in particular, seems to be suffered by children all over the world. This makes perfect sense if you think about it. Kids don't have the same respect for just how dirty our environment can be. They'll gladly stick their nose in a flower or go for a roll in the hay without even considering the consequences. Pets, as well, seem to love children and this can be bad. If your child suffers from pet allergies, he'll probably want to play with your cat or dog even more!

So what are some common symptoms of allergies in children? Well, if you see any of the following traits, there is a good chance your child is suffering from an allergic reaction. The most common symptom to look for is sneezing. If your kid constantly sneezes or complains about having itchy eyes, chances are you should look into getting him or her some medication. In more serious cases, a child can even experience asthmatic type symptoms. He could be short of breath or even wheezy. Reactions to allergens found on pets can produce some different symptoms in your child. The most common one of these is probably the nettle rash. Look for this especially if your kid has been scratched. Cats seem to be worse than dogs for this...

A lot of children suffer from different allergies so it's not something that you should be too worried about. That said, we all want our kids to lead a healthier, more enjoyable life so it's worth learning more about child allergies.

Allergic Reactions to Wool Carpets and Rugs?

The natural performance of a wool fiber and it's durable qualities have protected man for over 25,000 years. Wool is actually a hypoallergenic fiber. Those who say they are allergic are most often referring to the prickle and tickle effect of an old wool sweater. Sitting or laying on wool carpets and rugs rarely, if ever, can cause the same effect. No one has ever been treated or diagnosed for anaflactic shock when coming into contact with wool.

Allergies are widespread in the developed world and that problem is increasing for two main reasons:

  • A great number of synthetic substances and petroleum based products are being used in the home.
  • The improved diagnosis of allergic conditions are now available to those suffering from allergies.
  • There is no reason why asthmatic or allergy sensitive people should not enjoy the comfort and good looks of carpets and/or rugs. Wool is non-allergenic and does not promote the growth of dust mites or bacteria. Wool carpet fibers are too long and too coarse to be inhaled and therefore do not affect asthma sufferers. In fact hard surface floors allow airborne particles to be disturbed and whirl into the air causing more irritation for hay fever and asthma sufferers.

Recent data from Swedens Central Statistics Bureau, Army, and Flooring Association shows that over the past 20 years while the installation of carpet went down with the increase of hard surface installations, the number of allergic people increased dramatically over the same period.

Wool fibers actually purify indoor air by absorbing air pollutants and gases. Wool fibers absorb common contaminants in indoor air like formaldehyde, nitrogen dioxide and sulphur dioxide, while not releasing VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds). This is one of the reasons why the LEEDS (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) environmental program accepted wool carpets as the only soft surface floor covering in the initial testing of accepted floor covering products. The approved products are rubber, bamboo, linoleum, cork, and, of course, wool. All of these products are also rapidly renewable, biodegradable, and carbon neutral.

Not only does wool keep the air free of many harmful pollutants, it will not release them, even when heated. It has been estimated that wool carpets can continually purify indoor air for up to 30 years. What a natural and beautiful way to help the earth and improve the comfort in your own home.

If you hear someone say "I'm allergic to wool", just keep in mind that another man made myth is now explained and hopefully put to rest.

    Prevention Measures For Acute Bronchitis

There are two types of bronchitis, acute and chronic bronchitis. Acute bronchitis lasts for 10 to 12 days. It is mainly caused by a virus or bacteria and in some cases it may come from fungus. People suffering from acute bronchitis have the following symptoms, constant coughing with mucus, excessive fatigue, shortness of breath, chest pain, low fever, vibration felt when breathing, and sometimes a cold feeling.

In the past, bronchitis was often associated with measles and whooping cough. Acute viral bronchitis develops when a virus causing an upper respiratory tract infection invades the bronchi, triggering inflammation and the secretion of excess mucus. Asthmatic bronchitis is triggered by exposure to a substance to which the child is allergic.

Acute bronchitis can be caused by contagious pathogens. In about half of instances of acute bronchitis a bacterial or viral pathogen is identified. Typical viruses include respiratory syncytial virus, rhinovirus, influenza, and others. In most cases, acute bronchitis is caused by viruses, not bacteria, and will go away on its own without antibiotics. To treat acute bronchitis that appears to be caused by a bacterial infection, or as a precaution, antibiotics may be given. Also, a meta-analysis found that antibiotics may reduce symptoms by one-half day.

Acute bronchitis can also result from breathing irritating fumes, such as those of tobacco smoke, or breathing polluted air (from unwashed bed linens for example).

If someone is prone to bronchitis, the following measures will reduce the chance of recurrences:

    1) Avoid smoking at home. Those who are exposed to cigarettes smoke in the home are four times as likely to develop bronchitis as infants in a smoke-free environment.

    2) Wash your hands regularly and encourage frequent hand washing in the child to prevent the spread of viruses that cause bronchitis.

    3) Protect the person from exposure to conditions that trigger an allergic reaction.

    4) If you are living in a polluted area using an air conditioner and filters in your house are recommended to be able to breathe clean air.

    Call your doctor if you:

o Coughs persistently for longer than four or five days without showing any improvement

o Complains of pain during breathing, which is a symptom of pneumonia

Bronchitis causes discomforts in patient's life that is why it is important to become aware of the signs and symptoms of this illness to determine if you already have this condition, or if it is time to consult your doctor. Bronchitis is a preventable illness, establishing proper hygiene inside your house and taking care of your health may help you avoid this condition.

Horse Health Care - Treating Horse COPD Or Heaves

If you have ever seen a horse suffering from symptoms of COPD, also called heaves, then you know that the picture is not pretty. The horse can't breathe properly, respiration is high, nostrils are flared, and then there's the heave line, a sure sign of respiratory distress.

Although this used to be a horse health care condition that affected mostly older horses, today it has become common in younger performance horses or horses under stress. While it has always been assumed that COPD or horse heaves is caused by an allergy to hay, dust, mold, or other allergens, I recently discovered that this condition can also be simply a sign of stress.

While many people feel that heaves is a permanent condition, this case study demonstrates how the symptoms of heaves can be alleviated with nutritional support.

    Reyacita: A Case Study

Reyacita is a four-year-old mustang mare I adopted about 8 months ago. She had a rattle in her chest when I brought her home, and the rattle always sounded louder when she was under stress (such as when I started her under saddle).

A few months after she came home, the rattle in her chest developed into a full-blown case of heaves, or COPD. She had difficulty breathing, and coughed deeply and constantly. She was clearly suffering and she could not eat her hay.

Since this happened in late winter, I could not put her on pasture. Instead, I took her off hay and began feeding her soaked beet pulp and a senior pelleted feed. I also offered her grass hay cubes that had been soaked.

I supplemented this diet with Xango mangosteen juice, blue-green algae, enzymes, and probiotics to help heal her lungs. Within two weeks, the coughing had stopped but the rattle in her chest always reappeared when Reyacita was stressed. A prime example is when I rode her through our small town for the first time. Although she showed no other signs of stress, when we reached an intersection that had traffic, she put her head down and rattled with each breath. As soon as we turned around and headed for home, the rattle disappeared.

    The Veterinarian's Diagnosis

When I consulted veterinarian Dr. Madalyn Ward about Reyacita's case, she told me that I was on the right track with the mare's diet and supplements. She asked me to find out Reyacita's horse personality type by taking the online test at Horse Harmony. Reyacita turned out to be a Metal personality type, whose typical physical weakness is the lungs, so her bout with COPD or heaves was not surprising.

    Recent Changes

Once spring arrived I was able to turn Reyacita out on pasture, although I continued to syringe the mix of mangosteen juice and other supplements into her mouth daily. Her health improved to such a point that the rattle in her chest disappeared, even when she was under stress. Everything went well until she started eating hay again this fall.

I wanted to try feeding her hay again to see whether she had truly conquered her COPD or whether she was truly allergic to hay. For the first 4-5 days, she ate the hay and showed no signs of coughing. Then one day I began training all the horses for cowboy mounted shooting. This involved firing a small revolver at a pretty good distance (about 500 yards) from the horses so they could become accustomed to the noise.

None of the horses showed much alarm, they just all moved to the far end of the pen. However, Reyacita immediately developed a deep heaving cough. The noise from the revolver stressed her enough that her physical weakness, her lungs, immediately showed the effects.

When I discussed her situation with Dr. Ward, she pointed out that when Reyacita heard the sound of the pistol, she probably immediately flipped from the parasympathetic nervous system (the one we use in normal life conditions) to the sympathetic nervous system (used when horses are in fight-or-flight mode). Once the sympathetic nervous system kicked in, Reyacita's immune system became compromised and she started to have heaves again.

Not convinced that Reyacita's COPD symptoms were due to a hay allergy, Dr. Ward suggested I supplement the mare with Eleviv, an herbal product that supports the adrenal system and helps restore the parasympathetic nervous system. I fed Reyacita 2 capsules of Eleviv the first day but gave her no hay. The Eleviv calmed the COPD symptoms within a few minutes, and she improved more during the course of the day. On the second day, I fed her 2 more capsules of Elviv and offered her a few flakes of hay. Reyacita was able to eat the hay without any COPD symptoms. The third day was the same.

This indicates that Reyacita's COPD is the result of stress rather than a hay allergy. While many horses with COPD or heaves are assumed to have hay or dust allergies, this may or may not be the case. As with Reyacita, these horses may simply be under too much stress, and their weakest physical link may be their lungs, hence the COPD.

It would not surprise me to discover that many performance horses operate primarily off their sympathetic (fight-or-flight) nervous system, which depresses the immune system and prevents healing. Bringing this horse back around to the parasympathetic nervous system, as I did by giving Reyacita the adrenal-supporting Eleviv, may allow these horses to not only heal but also to feel a great deal more comfortable.

These days I give Reyacita Eleviv anytime I feel she might be under stress, such as when I haul her to a horse event or when I started her on roping training. So far, she has never shown any signs of COPD or stress when supported in this way with nutrition. It's not for every horse, but Eleviv is definitely something that stays in my first-aid kit in my horse trailer.

Used Motorcycle Helmet - It is Dangerous!

In the recent credit crunch, people tend to buy the things that are used and are cheap but are not of good quality. They compromise on quality for less cost. But the quality cannot be over ruled by cost in every occasion. Same is the case with the buying of helmets. People buy used helmets to save some money but they do not realize that it can cost them their life.

It is always advisable to spend some extra money on items that provide you protection and can save you life. The rubbers of used helmets are not strong enough to protect the head in case of any accident.

The previous owner of the helmet may not have used it carefully and there are chances that it is cracked from inside and you are not aware of it. It's not necessary that accidents would have made the helmet week but some times its life is over and its parts are not strong enough now to support any accidents. If it would have been strong, why the owner would have left it? Don't take the risk of your life for few dollars.

Apart from being weak there are some health concerns as well. It would contain the sweat and hair of the previous owner. You may get sick from that or may get any skin allergy. It is also possible that the owner would have been the patient of asthma and you may also get this disease because used helmets may not be clean. You surely do not want to get sick for few dollar saving.

Size of the helmet is another problem. You may not get an exact size helmet either it would be loose or tight. What ever the case is you won't feel comfortable. New helmets are available in different sizes and you may select an appropriate size that would fit you. Wearing a helmet that do not fit will make you uncomfortable and may cause an accident because you may loose your concentration while adjusting the helmet.

Riding motorcycle is a sense of pleasure for some people and makes them feel relax. They like to ride on the motorcycle alone on a long road. Some youngsters like to race their motorcycle on the road with their friends. Some even try to drive it on one wheel. If the helmet is not strong then the accident caused can take their life or may disable them for the rest of their life. No one would prefer saving money on such life saving items.

Enjoy your ride but not at the expense of your life. There may be several individuals around you who lost their life just because their safety equipments were not strong enough to bear the shock of those accidents.

So do not play with your life by buying these unreliable helmets. Their purpose is to save you head from maximum shock. If they cannot perform their function then what's the point of buying it. Make the right choice when it comes to your life!

Analogies Between Every-Day-Life Stress And Peptic Ulcer

The long-disputed idea that gastric and duodenal ulcer is mainly caused by stress was struggled by two medical doctors and scientists studies who discovered the existence of an acid-resistant bacteria. Helicobacter pylori is capable to resist and breed in an acid environment; it belongs to class A of pre-cancerous stages as it is known to produces some of the most dangerous forms of gastric and duodenal cancer.

After the huge discovery of Helicobacter doctors considered all forms of ulcer were caused by bacterial infection and stopped studying the emotional factors. A medication combining Metronidazole, an anti-parasite antibiotic and Ampicillin took over the sketch of medication and patients suffering from ulcer seemed to get quickly better.

In spite of these discoveries studies around the world population have pointed out that stress affects gastric secretion and injures the stomach mucous more than H. Pylori. Although infected, some people never show clinical signs of ulcer; on the other side people feeling stressed are twice more likely to develop ulcer then the ones considered stress-free. Also, ulcer cases seemed to multiply after natural disasters such as earthquakes or floods when an increased number of people accused clinical signs of gastric pains and digestive hemorrhages.

To be able to establish a complete diagnosis of a particular case a physician must necessarily search for both psychological and physical determinant factors. The term of "Illness" is relative as every case of ulcer is special; every patient is different, with his own lifestyle and his personal eating and relaxing habits.

Beside ulcer, stress can also cause high blood pressure, diabetes or asthma, especially in patients with difficult work-environments or family problems. For treating gastric and duodenal ulcer a doctor must consider advising his patients to improve their lives on both physical and emotional scale. A physician should always be a good psychiatrist as he needs to treat bodies as well as minds.

Although an antibiotic treatment is most necessary to control signs and symptoms, a doctor must ask the patient about his own level of stress at home or at work. Even when well treated, with the right antibiotics, ulcer always shows relapses after a period of time.

Stress can be caused by internal factors as well as by external ones like a stressful marriage, use of drugs or alcohol.

A program of physical exercises, meditations or therapeutic baths and massages will surely improve the psychological condition of the patients. Also a cure of homeopathic products and natural-based food can increase the body's performances. Food supplements like deglycyrrinizated licorice which helps stomach wounds to heal or Aloe Vera that decreases inflammation and supports healing, can make things look better.

For treating a disease you must first understand it. Accepting both physical and emotional factors as potential causes for any illness might help you cure any kind of affection better. Examine the nervous and immune system together with the disturbing area can bring sometimes huge satisfactions. This is why accepting stress as a potential cause for ulcer is very important for a successful treatment.

How To Help Your Child Stop Coughing

The key point here is that when you start to do this you may feel a little uncomfortable. In the past when there was a slight tickle in your throat or a feeling of 'lumpiness' in your chest, you coughed and had short term relief.

Now you must use your willpower to not cough at all if possible. If you absolutely must cough, you do one with your mouth closed. It is a bit like throat clearing before speaking. The air is released only through your nose.

If there is some mucus right there, obviously do not allow yourself to choke. The goal is to not allow any more CO2 to escape than necessary.

[Remember the more you cough, the more CO2 you release, the more mucus you produce, the more you cough.]

Within a short time of not coughing, and practicing 'shallow breathing' [which we will learn later it simply traps more CO2 in.], you will notice the 'tickle' has gone.

A little story about this relates to my partner's father. He at one time was the caretaker of quarters for temporary accommodation for children.

He had a simple rule that said that 'No-one is allowed to be ill'. He is a caring old marshmallow, but could give the impression of a stern military man. In their efforts to please him, the children would suppress their asthmatic [at that time called 'bronchitis'] cough. Within a short time even the urge to cough would be gone, and the child would have seemingly 'grown out of it.'

Coughing is often a very simple and effective way to get affection and attention for children. The mechanism is unconscious, but all they have to do is increase their breathing or run around madly with uncontrolled breathing, and the coughing or wheezing will start.

You may have seen children who become upset, carry on for a while, and then develop a really excellent 'asthmatic' attack. This is real asthma, not psychosomatic, it can be dangerous and is often fatal.

The rules are simple. They are not allowed to cough [the dry asthmatic cough], and must be very still and reduce their breathing just as the adults learn to do. A very effective asthma stopper in children is be very still, place their forefinger under their nose, and breathe in and out in such small breaths that they can hardly feel the air from their nose on their finger. ['Breathe like a tiny little mouse'] In a short time the attack will abate.

Obviously, you must use common sense in an emergency, and follow any medical regime outlined for the child. This technique should be learned by the child in a non-emergency, and be used at the first sign of any problems, to totally avoid the emergency situation.

In a large number of my personal cases, all that was required is an explanation to the child of the cause of the problem, a short practice on what to do if their throat gets 'tickley', and the general strict instructions to 'Keep your mouth closed' and 'Dont Cough'. [Unless they are choking.]

This one session is often sufficient to stop all symptoms of asthma.

    Effective Treatment For Bronchitis Symptoms

Bronchitis is a kind of respiratory disease and in order to ward off the possibility of any sort of complications, medical treatment is required.

Bronchitis symptoms would alert you to rush to a doctor immediately. Bronchitis symptoms treatment would actually depend on the conclusion drawn by your doctor regarding the type of bronchitis you have.

For instance, in case of fever, you may be advised to have aspirin. Sometimes, certain over-the-counter (non-prescription) medicines for cough may provide great relief. These medicines are great for relieving the soreness resulting from uncontrolled coughing.

Cough recall is the usual and most practiced method of getting rid of excess amount of phlegm and foreign substances from the lungs. The duty of the physician would restrict to alleviating bronchitis symptoms as there is no specific discourse available to address bronchitis resulted from viruses.

For bronchitis symptoms such as wheezing, you may be advised to try a bronchodilator drug. This is usually takes via inhalation. For patients who are coughing too much, a cough suppressant may act as a medical boon.

A secondary bacterial infection is indicated by greenish-yellow sputum. Here, you may require an antibiotic.

Chronic bronchitis symptoms are usually considered serious problem. You need to pay attention in this case. Doctors advise to stop smoking under these conditions. Another precaution you need to take is to avoid other people who smoke. Also avoid people suffering from cold. You must also avoid crowds because entering a crowd is like submitting yourself to someone who has cold. It is quite like that a mere cold (to others) may result into a very serious problem to you.

In case, you are in a job that requires you to visit polluted or harsh breathing areas, change the job.

In order to relocate the cough, you need to look for a drier and warmer climate you should abstain from living in cold and damp places. Reoccurrence of acute bronchitis for several times should not be taken lightly. Inform your doctor immediately about repeated acute bronchitis symptoms. He will definitely find the exact cause of the recurrence. Repeated attacks of acute bronchitis symptoms are dangerous as these result in injurious lung scarring.

As mentioned earlier, taking aspirin for fever is O.K. You may also take over the counter cough medicines available at your nearer medical store for relief from cough. However, if you feel shortness of breath, you need to call for your doctor immediately.

Here, your doctor would prescribe certain effective antibiotics. These are helpful especially for cases where the disease has evolved from a bacterial infection. Antibiotics are also prescribed in order to prevent the hazard of facing the infection for the second time.

Chronic bronchitis is dangerous. The symptoms may sometimes affect the heart. In case, you think that you may be having pulmonary problems, you need to let the doctor know about this. He may prescribe you certain important tests in order to analyze the possibility of any serious problem. He would also determine whether you are getting proper treatment for chronic bronchitis symptoms.

What Is The Theory Behind The Buteyko Method and Helping Your Asthma?

According to the Buteyko Method, the key to Asthma and other diseases lies in the gas - carbon dioxide. Consider the following facts:

The basic reaction that produces the energy inside each of our body cells involves two main gases. Most energy comes from the breakdown [or burning] of sugars [carbohydrates] in the presence of oxygen [O2]. This produces a nice amount of energy that we use to run our bodies. It also produces water and very importantly carbon dioxide. So we have:

    Carbohydrate + Oxygen

Are reacted in the cells to produce

ENERGY + Water + Carbon Dioxide

The amount of carbohydrate and oxygen used up and the amount of water and carbon dioxide produced depends on the energy need of the cell. For example running up a flight of stairs will use up more oxygen and produce more carbon dioxide than sitting quietly in front of your computer.

To keep the levels of both oxygen and carbon dioxide within safe levels our body adjusts your level of breathing. You will breathe more deeply when you are more active and produce more carbon dioxide, and less deeply when you are quiet and produce less carbon dioxide. You will note that it is the levels of carbon dioxide that regulates your breathing, not oxygen. [The exception is when you are being strangled.]

So our breathing is how we release the carbon dioxide that we have produced [and also replenish our oxygen.]

A Little More About Carbon Dioxide

There is only 0.03% carbon dioxide in the atmosphere today. This is almost none at all.

If you are perfectly healthy you will have about 6.5% carbon dioxide in the alveoli of your lungs. This is more than 200 times more than is present in the air around us.

Therefore your lungs act to trap in some of the carbon dioxide produced by your body.

This carbon dioxide is critical for keeping the pH [A chemical measure of how much acid is in our body fluids] at a safe level. Our pH is the ratio of bicarbonate to carbonic acid, which are both forms of carbon dioxide. The level of your carbonic acid depends on the amount of carbon dioxide that is in the alveoli of your lungs. If the carbon dioxide level drops [or rises] too much it can make fatally large changes to your pH.

More simply, the amount of carbon dioxide you keep in your lungs is very important. It affects the chemistry all of fluids of your body.

If you adopt a breathing pattern which causes you to release more carbon dioxide than you produce, the level in your lungs will drop. If it drops too far, the level of carbonic acid will be altered, and so the pH will also change. Even a slight change in your pH is usually fatal.

Now stay with me, this is the interesting part!

To help prevent the loss of carbon dioxide to a fatally low level, the body has developed certain defensive mechanisms. These include spasms of the air pipes and blood pipes, and the increased production of mucus.

ASTHMA Is A Defense - Your Body Works Perfectly!

To use asthma as a simple example, let's think like a plumber in talk in terms of pipes.

Let's say that your breathing is too great. As you are breathing out air that is rich in carbon dioxide, and breathing in air that has almost no carbon dioxide, the more you breathe - the less you trap in. If the level of carbon dioxide in your lungs gets too low - you really will have a serious problem. As you continue to release more carbon dioxide than you produce, your level gets lower and lower. Now your body does not want you to die, so if it is [genetically] able it will act to restrict the airflow to trap in some carbon dioxide.

It will do this by either reducing the size of the opening in your air pipes, or by increasing the production of mucus in the pipes, clogging them up. The first defense will make you feel tight or wheezy the second will give you a cough. Both will cause more carbon dioxide to be trapped in - as you physically cannot get as much out of your body through a smaller or blocked air pipe. The harder you try to breathe deeply during an asthma attack, the more your air pipe will constrict.

If you can learn to reduce your breathing depth more than your asthma is making you, the attack will subside. That is what the Buteyko method gently and carefully teaches you to do.

Even more than that, the Buteyko method shows you how to gently condition the section of your brain that is sensitive to carbon dioxide to get used to higher levels of carbon dioxide in your lungs! This means that as you have started with a normal higher level in your lungs, you will have a "safety" or "buffer" zone between you and any asthma at all. You will then have fewer and less severe attacks.

This is how the extraordinary results of Buteyko and Asthma are achieved. I recently spent time with a Certified Buteyko Practitioner James Hooper and he showed me evidence that, people who have personal classes with him had maintained a full guarantee of significant improvement in just one week.

James went onto say, "The average decrease in symptoms and relief medication use in my clinic in 7 days is 92.5%."

My article written in conjunction with James has given you a very basic part of the theory of what causes asthma, and how the Buteyko Breathing Method training stops it. I should also note that the Buteyko Method is not one of those techniques that people have created to simply make money off people with Asthma. The Buteyko Breathing Method underwent clinical trials at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane in 1994 and Respirtory Physicians Prof C Mitchell and Dr S Bowler who ran the trials found that the trial patients had a 90% decrease in the their reliance on Asthmatic Reliever Medicine.

Risk Factors of Chronic Bronchitis - Are You at Risk?

Chronic bronchitis is characterized by the inflammation of the bronchi in the upper respiratory system and the production of an excess amount of mucus. This causes cough and expectoration in most individuals suffering from this condition. The cough is usually noticed in the early morning just after waking, and is usually referred to as 'smokers cough'. Many people often experience some sort of trouble of breathing, including shortness of breath or labored breathing. Many different things can contribute to someone having chronic bronchitis, and the direct cause can be different depending on the person. Some of the different risk factors of chronic bronchitis are:

    Smoking Cigarettes

Smoking is the number one risk factor and is a part of over 90% of all cases of chronic bronchitis. Individuals that currently suffer from chronic bronchitis and continue to smoke should quit smoking or risk suffering from further complications. Some of these complications include pneumonia, emphysema, and lung infection. Lung infection is especially hard to treat with an increased amount of mucus in the upper respiratory system. This mucus causes the area to be moist and warm, making it a breeding ground for bacteria and infection.

    Low Resistance To Disease

Individuals with a low resistance to disease are considered to be at higher risk for developing chronic bronchitis. This includes the young, old, sick, and those individuals with immunity disorders. If you have a low resistance to disease and are worried about this condition, it is recommended that you talk with your doctor about different supplements and treatments that may help you ward off respiratory diseases.

    Exposure To Lung Irritants

Individuals who are exposed to lung irritants while at work are at a higher risk for developing chronic bronchitis. The most common jobs that include these risks are coal workers, welders, construction workers, and individuals who work in chemical labs. Dust is also considered a lung irritant and should be avoided.

    Frequent Respiratory Infections

Individuals who experience frequent respiratory infections have a much higher risk of developing chronic bronchitis. These frequent respiratory problems create complications in the upper respiratory system as a whole, and may cause the body to create thicker mucus. If you experience frequent respiratory infections you should discuss your options for dealing with them with your doctor.

    Regular Exposure to Air Pollution

Individuals who are regularly exposed to large amounts of air pollution are more susceptible to chronic bronchitis. Air pollution is considered an irritant, so you should limit your exposure to polluted air containing dust, chemicals or smoke in order to avoid developing this unpleasant and dangerous condition.

    Acid Reflux Sufferers

Individuals who suffer from acid reflux are at a higher risk for contracting chronic bronchitis. The acid reflux eats away at the airways in your body, and causes your body to produce an excess of mucus. Your bronchi may also become inflamed as a result of exposure to their gases.

    Infectious Diseases in Cats

Infectious diseases in cats are caused by viruses, fungi, parasites or bacteria that your cat has picked up somewhere. The infection can be spread by bites from fleas and ticks or by a protozoan such as giardia or toxoplasmosis. They can be spread through direct or indirect contact or through airborne pathogens.

Cats rarely cough so if you do notice your cat coughing, it could be an inflammation of the respiratory tracts or bronchitis. Bronchitis may be caused by an infection caused by a virus or allergy or even an allergic reaction. Cats with bronchitis could have a mucus discharge from the nose. A simple cough may be alleviated with a teaspoon of honey but if this doesn't work, or if your cat is running a temperature, a visit to the vet is advised. Keep your cat warm and away from drafts, the same as you would for a child. Pneumonia is when the lungs become inflamed, and is usually caused by an infection. This can lead to pronounced difficulty in breathing and must be treated as serious.

Another serious respiratory disease is feline asthma. This is caused by allergies to common substances such as pollen, mould, dust, smoke, chemical cleaning products used in the home or even things such as cat litter or moist air. In feline asthma, bronchial spasms make the bronchi tighten. This in turn causes swelling of the tissue surrounding the area which then turns into an asthmatic attack. And just like in humans, cats can have an exercise induced asthma attack. If you notice your cat wheezing after exercise or having trouble catching its breath, a visit to the vet is a good idea to either confirm or rule out feline asthma.

Another problem to be aware of is feline infectious anaemia. This is more common in male cats between one and three years old. The disease is caused by a micro-organism called hemobartonella felis which attaches to the surface of red blood cells and destroys them. As the red blood cells are destroyed, the cat then becomes anaemic. It is thought that this is transmitted during contact, usually a fight. Around one third of untreated cats will die. Symptoms can include a high temperature and pale gums, and the under-lid of the eye can be pale as well. Your vet can do a blood test to diagnose this.

Feline infectious peritonitis is the biggest cause of death in cats after panleukopenia. It can be very hard to diagnose as the signs can be non-specific. White blood cells are infected with the virus and the infected blood moves the virus throughout the cat's body. The disease is almost always fatal.

Feline leukaemia virus is transmitted by transfer of saliva or nasal secretions from an infected cat to other cats. This can happen if cats share a water or feed bowl. If the newly infected animal is normally healthy, his immune system can kill the virus. However, it can be fatal. The feline leukaemia virus is not a cancer despite the 'leukaemia' name.

Cat flu is really a misnomer as cats don't catch colds or flu the way we humans do. Cat flu is a general term used to describe problems with the upper respiratory tract. The most common cause is the feline herpes virus (FHV) or feline calicivirus (FCV). Generally, feline herpes virus is more severe than FCV. Cat flu is usually passed through an eye, nasal or mouth discharge. It can also be transmitted through contaminated feeding dishes or even contaminated bedding. FCV can live in the environment for a long time and is resistant to many popular disinfectants. As there are no drugs for viral infections, home care is the only way to treat them. Make sure your cat eats and drinks regularly to prevent dehydration. Cleaning the discharge with a soft cloth soaked in water is also necessary. Your vet may prescribe antibiotics to prevent any secondary infection occurring.

Some infectious cat diseases are preventable. Talk to your vet about vaccinating your cat or kitten. These vaccinations not only guard your cat against diseases, they also help stop the spread of these diseases to other cats. If your cat is kept indoors, it has less chance of becoming infected.

Bronchitis Cure - Get Rid of Bronchitis Naturally!

Acute and chronic bronchitis can not only be quite painful and make a person feel miserable for long stretches of time, but it can also result in the loss of work or missing school. Thus, finding a cure for bronchitis is important, especially if you have chronic bronchitis and have had the sickness for quite some time.

First, it is important to understand what bronchitis consists of. Bronchitis is caused by the inflammation of the lining of the membrane that lines the bronchi and bronchial tube in a person's chest. Thus, if a person has bronchitis, there is usually pain one's chest, a sore throat, hoarseness, a deep cough, and a thick phlegm or mucus that is released, usually when coughing. Because of the symptoms and because bronchitis is extremely contagious, it is something that definitely needs to be treated as quickly as possible.

Though a person may be put on medicine by his or her doctor, there are other cures for bronchitis. For example, those who have an acute case will most likely be placed on an all fruit diet from anywhere to two to three days. If the person has chronic bronchitis, they may very well be placed on this diet for as long as a week. When this happens, the patient consumes three meals of fruit and juice. Additionally, once this diet is over, the patient is then usually placed on a diet that is as balanced as possible (i.e. think of the food pyramid). It is highly recommended that no matter how badly a person feels, that they should get some exercise during this time to help clear the chest and airways. Thus, daily walks or yoga is suggested by many doctors.

Epsom-salt baths are also recommended for those with bronchitis, especially of the acute variety. To give this bath, it is recommended that two to three pounds of salt be dissolved in 60 liters of water at a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit. This bath is recommended nightly for those with acute bronchitis and is recommended two or three times a week for those with chronic bronchitis.

Additionally, there are some home remedies that many people have found to be helpful for bronchitis. One such remedy is to take a teaspoon of turmeric powder two or three times per day. It is generally thought to be most effective when combined with milk and when taken on an empty stomach.

No matter how you treat bronchitis, it is important that you talk with your doctor before trying any treatments. You not only want to make sure that you are treating yourself with the most effective treatments, but you also want to make sure that what you have is bronchitis. With a doctor's help, some rest and exercise, and some consistent treatments, you will be cured in no time at all.

How to Cure Asthma in 3 Powerful Ways

There hasn't been a proven cure for asthma by doctors, but there are people who have said to have their asthma cured completely. I have managed to put together some great ways on how to cure asthma and get rid of the things that's stopping you from living a normal life.

So I listed the 3 best and most powerful methods on how to cure asthma below:

    Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar breaks down fattening food, this is by far the most celebrated remedy for asthma out of the 3. Take two bottle caps twice a day, either in sweet apple juice or just cut with water and honey.

It's so effective that some people have claimed to stop using their Flixotide steroid treatment. Also if you take 2 tbsps of Apple Cider Vinegar it will cure the tightness in your chest too.

    Vitamin B12

This has also helped a many people relieve their asthma, and allowed them to do things they wouldn't have normally been able to do. Take Vitamin B12 with Magnesium and a liver cleansing supplement, and stop eating diary.

    Quercetin

Quercetin works as an antihistamine and has anti-inflammatory properties. Quercetin are found in onions, apples, green tea, and black tea. Smaller amounts are found in leafy green vegetables and beans.

If you take very high doses of Quercetin (its impossible to take to much, its non toxic and safe) you will start to see improvement in your asthma. After a few weeks, you can start using a lower dose and can be taken with no side effects or worries, and another very popular way on how to cure asthma

    Can Constipation Be Dangerous?

Constipation affects different persons differently; some persons with very obstinate constipation feel no inconvenience even though the bowls do not move more than once or twice a week, while others are worried and upset if the regular daily movement does not take place. The general health may not be affected for some time, and apart from a bad taste in the mouth and furred tongue there may be no other inconvenience, but if continued for long it are a feeling of distension of the stomach after food, belching, yawning, foul breath, apathy for any kind of physical or mental work, irritability, sleeplessness, a state of anxiety and unnecessary worries.

Muddiness of the skin, acne, pimples and boils may also be present. But all these symptoms are not present in all cases. In asthmatic subjects it often brings on an attack which is relieved by a purgative. The constant presence of hard lumps of facial matter in the intestine causes irritation, as a result of which a small quantity of thick mucus and a little facial matter are frequently, evacuated which simulates dysentery. Piles, fissure, ulceration or chronic inflammation of the colon or rectum may result from it.

The first step in the treatment of constipation is to remove the cause and adopt a diet containing a sufficient quantity of solid residue to simulate the intestinal muscle. For this purpose the diet should contain a liberal quantity of whole wheat bread, bran cooked in different ways, oatmeal, unpolished cereals, green vegetables, fresh fruit and nuts. The quantity of meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and other concentrated foods, should be limited.

Fresh vegetables contain, in addition to indigestible residue, vitamins, iron, calcium, phosphorus and other minerals necessary for the maintenance of health. Canned vegetables and fruit are not so wholesome as most of these elements deteriorate in the process of canning. Of the fruits papaya, guava, figs, and mangoes have a laxative action. The food should be eaten slowly and well masticated, the mouth and teeth kept clean and water or other liquid taken in sufficient quantity, especially after sweating and in hot weather.

    Defining Viral Induced Asthma

Asthma is a chronic ailment which affects the respiratory system. Not only is this condition inconvenient and unpredictable when neglected it can also become deadly. In actuality, according to surveys, asthma accounts for about 20% of the hospital admittance made each year, 3-5% of which is fatal. There are many factors that can cause the disease, allergies, exercise, stress, cold weather, and even viruses. Taking a deeper look at the role viruses play in bringing about the symptoms, here are a few facts about viral induced asthma along with the avoidance tips that you might want to keep in mind:

Viral induced asthma is what happens when viruses cause or worsen asthma symptoms. When faced with a viral infection the body counteracts by triggering and inflammatory response to attack the viruses and defend itself. While for non asthmatics this response can help hasten recovery for those who are afflicted by the condition, this response can cause swelling and increased sensitivity of airway cells as well as the excessive production of mucus, thereby worsening the problem.

Simple viruses like influenza A or rhinovirus can be anything but common or simple for asthmatics as it can further irritate the already sensitive air passages, triggering flare-ups and even worsening attacks. Research has also found that another virus namely; the Respiratory Syncytial Virus have been known to bring about symptoms similar to asthma when contracted and is already linked to death of small children in rare occasions.

In adults RSV can also cause wheezing even for individuals who have no history of asthma and induce symptoms to those who are already afflicted. What's good about viral induced asthma (although there may be nothing really good about it) is that, viral induced asthma cases tend to wax and wane along with the seasons. Rhinovirus for example has a peak season in late fall, and influenza A usually peaks in late winter. RSV on the other hand is most common during the winter months, peaking from January to February in the northern hemisphere.

The bad news is that at this moment there are no medications that can permanently rid the mentioned viruses as well as prevent the attacks associated with asthma. Your primary weapon would be precaution and avoidance. Getting your flu-shot, frequent hand washing and temporarily limiting contact with people who have upper respiratory symptoms are some of the good tips that you should be keeping in mind as well.

If you want to know more about viral induced asthma as well as the additional steps you can take in order to avoid it, ask your health care provider or check out medical sites on the internet as both will surely be able to provide you with the information that you need.

Cure Bronchitis Quickly - 8 Home Remedies For Bronchitis

Bronchitis can be caused by a bacterial or viral infection, or it can be triggered by an allergic reaction to molds, pollens, dander or dust. This lower respiratory disease is characterized by a deep, hacking (dry) cough that comes in sudden attacks. It results from inflammation of the bronchial tubes, the large airways that lead from the trachea (windpipe) to the lungs. The disease occurs in two forms: acute infectious bronchitis (usually viral) and allergic asthmatic bronchitis.

These home remedies are proven to help heal bronchitis infection and ease the symptoms like congestion and coughing, which causes patient irritability, uneasiness and to some extent pain.

    1) Getting enough rest

Taking time to rest is the one of the most important remedies. Having bronchitis can cause you with discomforts and you may not be able to sit still or lie comfortably. All you have to do is take it easy until your body can fight the infections.

    2) Gargle with warm water with salt

Gargling with warm water with enough salt can relieve an inflamed throat and can loosen up mucus that is attached to the throat. Gargle as often as possible and remember to spit out after gargling.

    3) Environment humidification

By using humidifiers it can moisten the air within the house and can help in bringing up the sputum and loosening the phlegm through coughing. These may include a hot bath with closed doors, slow boiling of water with added eucalyptus oil if available.

    4) Taking plenty of liquids

Drinking of plenty of fluids is helpful in thinning out sputum and makes it easier to expel. Most common drinks are water, fresh fruit juices, soup and sometimes tea. It is more helpful as long it is warm because it can soothe the throat from too much coughing.

    5) Ginger

Ginger is a common ingredient in your kitchen, with a mixture of ginger on your tea or honey it can alleviate fever associated in bronchitis and soothe your throat.

    6) Onion Juice

Onion juice when taken first thing in the morning can thin out phlegm and avoid further formation, because onion is said to be a natural expectorant.

    7) Almond

Almond is another remedy effective when you have bronchitis or other respiratory illness. It can be taken in any form.

    8) Spinach and asparagus

Spinach mix and asparagus drinks are also good expectorants. Your diet should also be limited to an all fruit diet and a well balanced diet, including orange juice and water.

If the bronchitis became worse in spite of the home remedies available, you can take aspirin or ibuprofen for aches and pains. It is best to consult your doctor, before taking any medications or trying to treat yourself. Your doctor is the best source of treatment for bronchitis.

How Air Filters Help Asthma Sufferers

Asthma is a common respiratory condition in adults and children. An asthma attack results in a narrowing and inflammation of the airways leading to the lungs. Triggers for an asthma attack can include: allergens, pollen, pet dander, air pollution, dust, and chemical fumes. Most of these impurities can exist in the home. Using an air filter can decrease or eliminate the triggers of asthma. Air purifiers for the home are effective at eliminating not only particles but also odors and fumes.

No matter what substance triggers your asthma attack, an air filter is going to make a great difference. Air filters work by removing particles from the air, and trapping them. Once the filter collects the particles, you will be able to breathe air that is much purer and cleaner.

There are a number of different air filters on the market. There are air purifiers that can be installed to filter air in a single room and filters that can be connected to the air conditioning or heating system of the home. Many experts recommend a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) grade air cleaner to filter out such contaminants as pollen, mold spores, pet dander, and dust mites.

Air purifiers with a HEPA filter have been proven to trap 99.97 to 99.99% of particles and microns from the air. Filtering these impurities out of indoor air will lessen the severity or eliminate asthma symptoms. The American Lung Association recommends a HEPA air filter purifier for bedrooms of asthma patients. According to the Mayo clinic, "an air particle filter is ideal for household ventilation systems." The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) and the British Allergy Foundation recommend the use of ionic filters and HEPA filters.

Asthmatics can experience an attack at any time. There are usually a set of triggers that cause an attack. Most of these triggers can be found in indoor air. If air purifiers are used, indoor air can be cleaned of impurities and make the air safer for an asthma sufferer to breathe.

Air purifiers are a necessity for households with family members who suffer from asthma. The best way to benefit from air filters is to put one in your bedroom, as well as any of the other rooms in which you spend a good amount of your time. Whether you or a person you're living with suffers from mild to severe asthma, air purifiers may be the best health solution for your home.

Asthma Symptoms Can Be Controlled With Air Purifiers

Do you know what types of allergen air you are breathing inside your home or office? You should not only ask yourself this question, but you need to find out the answer as well. Studies have shown the air inside the home or office is up to five times worse than the air outside. This is because the home or office is closed up. Windows and doors are closed and the air cannot get out, trapping the pollutants inside.

A lot of pollutants in the air cause health problems, and in some cases, even death. The pollutants you find inside your home or office are: pet dander, pollen, dust mites, airborne bacteria, house dust, and in some homes, second hand smoke. Inhaling these types of pollutants will cause symptoms such as: runny nose, red eyes, skin rashes, burning in the nose and throat, headaches, fatigue, sneezing; and can also trigger asthma symptoms. Do you suffer from asthma symptoms or any other symptoms mentioned above? If so, your home or office might be filled with allergen air.

Do you have a pet inside the home? Do you have someone who smokes living in your home? Smoke and pet dander are just two pollutants that trigger asthma. Asthma, if not kept under control, can be fatal. Good clean air will help in the control process of asthma symptoms.

Other pollutants in the air, which triggers asthma, are mold and dust mites. Mold is a living thing that produces spores. These spores are released into the air, landing in areas that are damp; and more mold will starts to grow. Air purifiers help to remove the mold spores that are released into the air.

Dust mites are found in the carpet you walk on. Just walking through your house can release dust mites into the air. Air purifiers help to remove the dust mites that are released into the air.

Can you imagine how much better you would feel living in a home or working in an office breathing good clean air? Air purifiers will help to control the amount of Pollutants found in your home or office. Whether you are inside your home, school, or work place, you will be comforted in knowing that an air purifier is on the job.

    Chronic Bronchitis, Causes and Type

Chronic bronchitis may be defined as a disease characterized by cough and sputum for at least 3 consecutive months in a year for more than 2 successive years. in this condition there is chronic obstruction to the alveolar inflow of air either due to chronic bronchitis or bronchial asthma.

    Causes -

Smoking: Smoking causes bronchoconstriction, sluggish ciliary movement, increases airway resistance, hypertrophy of the mucous glands, increased number of goblet cells and hypersecretion of mucus. Though smoking is said to be the most important cause, yet only 10%-15% of the smokers develop COPD. Usually a cigarette smoking history of greater than 20 pack Years is associated with the disease. (1 pack year is equivalent to smoking 20 cigarettes a day for 1 year.)

Atmospheric pollution: Industrial and domestic smoke as well as sulphur dioxide are main causes of air pollution which are responsible for chronic bronchial irritation and increased resistance to the airflow.

Infection: The role of infection is uncertain, but it appears that once it develops chronic irritation is maintained and progresses to emphysema. The main organisms are Haemophilus influenzae and Streptococcus pneumoniae. Mycoplasma pneumonae may also be involved.

Occupation: Coal-miners and industrial workers are often exposed to dust and fumes which may irritate the bronchial tree.

Familial and genetic abnormalities associated with Alpha-antiprotease deficiency may also be present.

    Types of chronic bronchitis

    • Simple chronic bronchitis. Here sputum is mucoid.

    • Chronic recurrent mucopurulent bronchitis. There is mucopurulent sputum present in absence of localised suppurative disease.

    • Chronic obstructive bronchitis. Airway obstruction is dominant.

    • Chronic asthmatic bronchitis. There is long continued cough and sputum with late onset of wheeze.

Pathogenesis, Pathology and Functional abnormality Mucous glands Due to chronic irritation, mucous glands undergo hypertrophy which is the main pathological finding in chronic bronchitis. The ratio between the thickness of gland and thickness of bronchial wall is called Reid Index. This is normally 0.26 and in chronic bronchitis it becomes 0.59. This index is the diagnostic criterion of chronic bronchitis. Goblet cells In the bronchioles Goblet cells proliferate and are overdistended with mucus.

    Mucus

Mucus secretion is enormously increased due to hypertrophy of mucous glands and proliferation of Goblet cells. This is the cause of chronic cough and sputum. Secretion of mucous glands mainly contributes to the sputum volume, while that of Goblet cell is responsible for airway obstruction. Thus there are wheeze, rhonchi and breathlessness. This mucus is chemically altered as its fucose and sialic acid concentration is increased.

    Infection

Increased mucus predisposes to infection by various organisms, e.g., viruses and bacteria. The main bacteria are H. influenzae and Strep. pneumoniae. This leads to severe inflammation of the bronchial tree resulting in mucopurulent sputum, further airway obstruction and constitutional reaction. H. influenzae may persist in the sputum and may cause fibrosis and scarring of the distant alveoli or at times emphysema. Airway obstruction This is the most important functional abnormality and is caused by numbers of factors, e.g., overproduction of mucus, inflammatory swelling and oedema, spasm of smooth muscle, fibrosis, air trapping at bronchioles and emphysema. In the earlier part of the disease intermittent and later on permanent obstruction develops. With severe airway obstruction PEF and FEVI are diminished and the FEVI/FVC ratio falls below -5 per cent. However, this does not correlate well.

Dust Mite Avoidance - Say "NO" to Dust Mites

Dust mites are the key source of allergic reactions which include the usual symptoms of sneezing, watery eyes and nose, as well as itchy skin. In more dramatic consequences, infantile eczema and asthma are attainable due to severe allergic reaction to its feces.

The waste of this 200 micro metered arachnid will eventually accumulate in pillows, mattresses and rugs. This cumulative waste product is able to cause a string of skin and breathing problems. Dust mite avoidance is necessary to prevent dust mite allergies.

There are several steps to avoid these tiny creatures. The first is to clean fabrics with above average hot water, somewhere between 54-56 degree Celsius in order to eliminate the dust mites and to discard the fecal matters produced by them.

Heavily contaminated with the droppings of dust mite, bed sheets and pillow casings must be ritually washed. They are airborne when the fabric is rubbed on i.e. when you wipe your feet on your welcome mat; you are actually flinging these microscopic creatures in all directions all over the place.

The art of vacuum cleaning comes in handy in this picture. Vacuum cleaners suck the dust mite and its droppings right off of your beautiful Persian carpets and accented pillows.

This is crucial in preventing asthma. The nasal passage can sometime be overly sensitive towards dust, therefore respiratory defects is sure to follow suit. It is the best solution when handling asthmatic children because children are prone to be more receptive to unclean environment. The underlying reason behind a pre-scholar's asthmatic condition may very well be due to house dust.

Other than that, air purifiers can be an excellent method of getting rid of dust mites. Normally they can travel by air, thus enabling an intrusion into the human respiratory system in an inevitable and customary coercion.

Tired of Using Your Nebulizer Machine? Here Are Some Natural Cures For Asthma

Using a nebulizer machine night in and night out because of your asthma, can be very irritating for someone dealing with asthma. They are VERY LOUD, and when you are using them, it feels like you are sitting there forever waiting for the medicine to run its course.

I know, I went through the same thing, and I hated being on them even when I know I needed to be. Now there are some natural cures for asthma that will give you a very flexible option, when it comes to dealing with your asthma.

Here are some natural cures for asthma:

Apple Cider Vinegar may the best and one of the most known remedies for asthma. Asthmatics all over are using this to treat and manage their asthma everyday. All the time I hear about people saying that they can't believe how effective this is.

Apple Cider Vinegar decreases inflammation, and allows airways to quickly open up. It's been said that some asthmatics have completely stopped using their medication after using this everyday.

Honey is also a good treatment for asthma, and is used very often. In order for the honey to be effective, it should be held under the nose and inhaled.

By doing this, you will soon be able to breathe deeper and easier. The aroma from the honey is what makes this works, and as it is inhaled by the nose it allows your breathing to return to normal.

Now using some natural cures for asthma, is always a good choice for anyone with asthma and having problems.
